The GMIU Gallery is a full-featured, responsive web application built for Gyanmanjari Innovative University (GMIU), Bhavnagar, Gujarat. The frontend is developed using React.js with Vite as the build tool, and Tailwind CSS for utility-first styling. This was a collaborative project developed as a university web presence initiative.
Rich Dynamic Showcase
The application features a multi-page architecture with dynamic client-side routing via React Router DOM, presenting a rich set of university content — including academic programs grouped by faculty, campus facilities, and a comprehensive activity section covering 10+ categories such as Industry Visits, Expert Talks, Sports, Cultural Events, Training & Placement, and more.
Procedural Backend Data Layer
A PHP + MySQL backend serves as the data layer, exposing REST-like JSON APIs that the React frontend consumes via Axios. These PHP APIs perform complex SQL queries — including subqueries, GROUP_CONCAT, FIND_IN_SET, and multi-table JOINs — to aggregate activity and faculty data efficiently from a university-managed database. The frontend handles response parsing, HTML entity decoding, and graceful fallback for missing data.
Interactive Components & SEO
Key technical highlights include: Swiper.js for the Training & Placement image carousel, React Loading Skeleton for perceived performance during data fetches, and a lazy-loaded route system using React.Suspense for optimized page loads. The app is fully SEO-optimized with targeted meta keywords and descriptions, and includes components like a responsive Navbar with mobile auto-close, a reusable Hero Banner, and a masonry-inspired horizontal gallery layout.
